I had this forum recommended to me by creamykiwi a little while ago, I joined and have been wandering around, so I thought it was about time I introduced myself :)

My name's Chloe, I'm 18 and have just finished college, more specifically A levels, one of which was photography :) I was lucky to have a tremendously inspiring tutor and really enjoyed the course, I'd always been fond of photography before this but I felt it gave me a bit more of a focus (no pun intended  )

I started off just shooting film and having lots of films developed when I was much younger, none of the shots were very sucessful but I just liked it. I moved onto digital then, which I use for botanical and equestrian sport photography, but am (since my photography course) moving towards using film more. I've just invested in things to develop my own films at home and would love to start printing eventually, I confess I am guilty of diving into things and will probabaly end up wasting a great deal of photo paper and destroying a few films at first, but perhaps this will be part of how I learn

I've gathered quite a few cameras, mostly because many of them are so inexpensive on Ebay and I'm keen on old/ strange/ cheap/ toy (I wonder if there's a bit of a stereotype attatched to the idea of toy cameras, I just like the shots which come from them from an art point of view) cameras. I've got a few 35mm compacts and a 35mm Holga which I love (that one cost a bit more but I love some of the photographs it's produced) a Kodak Duaflex and my first 120 camera, a Baldixette. On the digital side of things, I've got a Nikon D80 which I love, an SLR style one and a couple of compacts. I don't strictly need so many compacts, but there was a bit of a saga with those which explains why I ended up with four

I'm the first to admit I don't know a great deal yet, but I love learning and experimenting. My most thrilling photography moment so far has to be when I respooled some 35mm colour film into my Kodak Duaflex, using a bin bag and two coats as a change bag and developed it myself (with help, it has to be said) in black and white chemicals, and it actually had photos on it, a small thing I'm sure, but thrilling for me  I like the experimental/ alternative/ art photography side of things :)

Other than photography, I'm fond of horses, art, books and music (though I can't really play anything) So there we go, that's me :)

Hello there everyone

more weird and wonderful shots to look forward to - excellent... can hardly wait.

Hi Chloe, :welcome: it's great to hear that you are interested in using film and developing your own shots. Most people, including me, have opted for the digital option, but film, like acusitic instruments, does have quality that you can only approximate in digital.
Good luck, looking forward to some of your images.

Hi, I love film and using old gear

Hi Chloe

Weird and wonderful = creative  Nowt wrong with that! Life would be awfy boring if we were all the same!

Hello and welcome to TP!

Thank you all :D

I've been away in Wales for a week taking a lot of photos on different cameras (I have a bit of a car boot esque collection, hehe) and have decided I'd rather 'retire' those and invest in an older/ fully manual SLR, so I'll be making a post for advice at some time I think :)

Hi Chloe
Welcome to TP :)
