hi everyone.

Thought I'd better introduce myself before I start looking through the forum. My main hobby is actually gardening especially growing my own fruit and vegetables, and most of my recent photos have been a photo journal of how the garden and allotment plots have developed and how the crops are doing (or not as the case may be) and photos of wild flowers etc. I'm thinking of getting a digital SLR to take some serious photographs and I'm looking forward to learning how to do it properly. Before the digital age, part of my job was taking the odd photos for research papers and mainly dark room stuff developing B&W film and printing, but I'm definitely no expert and some of the terminology has been a bit over my head LOL!

thanks for the welcome guys. I had a good look around the site and realised that I really am a newbie when it comes to photography. Some really useful information though, and I particularly liked some of the reviews. Very informative.

As a result, I have a confession to make - I ordered a Sony alpha a200 today I had been looking at it for some time and just needed to find out what others thought - it all sounded very promising.
