Hello my name is ronald I live in the Barnsley area of South Yorkshire.

I am a complete new starter and of limited knowledge as I started late in life with the digital world. I have a sony DSC-V3 7.2 megapixels I do my printing from a Canon Pixma IP 5000. While surfing up and down the web I have noticed the word "RAW" mode and this mode is on my camera and I would like to know if it would be possible for me to use this mode and print my own photo's. Can anyone help me.
Thanking you all
Ron

Hi Ron, I am sure you will find a load of info on here. Not sure about your camera, but I know that on some in RAW mode you might have to do a bit of fiddling with the picture using the computer to fine tune the picture. The RAW file is basically the raw picture with no (or very little) processing done on it in the camera. It does allow for more freedom in the taking of the picture and fixing little things like the exposure... it is not a holy grail for fixing pictures though and you might find your camera is a little slower to save the picture once you have taken it.

Hope that helps Ron, there is a search button on the forum which you can type your camera name or the phrase "RAW" in to and it might throw up some more specific info..

Thanks Jason you have well and truly advised me, I can see it is not going to be of any use to me, I thought I might be able to get some better photo's, My camera I (think) is a top of the range digi compact, I am toying with the idea of going in for a Sony A350. To tell you the truth most of the time I am just a point and shoot guy even though I have taken some decent shots.
Once again Thanks very much for your help Jason
Ron
