Very new - just purchased first DSLR, Canon 1000D with 18-55 IS kit.

Previously had a Panasonic Lumix which I loved and got reasonable results from, but it died, so decided it was time to move up to a 'proper' camera!

Using mostly auto settings at present to get the feel of it, but can't wait to start using all the features!

Hello from ron this is the first time i have entered the forum i am only a oap novice. I use a sony dsc-v3 camera 7.2 megapixel and i print from a canon pixma ip 5000, my camera has a mode called RAW if i set my camera to this what will the prints turn out like, i dont want to try without seeking advice for fear i make a mistake.

Hi Jemma and welcome, get using the other bits of that dial, worst that can happen is you delete the picture after you've taken it :)
