Got one of those calls again this morning. Guy seemed to be a bit more professional than the last one. I kept telling him to go away as this was a scam. he kept on asking why I thought it was a scam. ( Probably and ex Double Glazing salesman. for his persistence )

I continued to tell him to go away , Nicely . telling him all the reasons why he couldn't possibly know what my computer traffic wasn't monitored by the windows security centre. He kept insisting I turned my computer on so that he could help me diagnose the problem, after all he was Microsoft certified. The final point finally got home to him when I told him I was on a MAC.

I wish I had more time to give him the run around but hey I've got things to do

Oh, I've had a couple of those. Play dumb, play along and give stupid answers. They hang up on me!

This has been going on for some time. Easiest thing to tell them is that you have a mac and hopefully they b****r off. The problem is that those who aren't computer or conmen-savvy will fall for it so please inform anyone who has a computer like parents.

I love these scammers I keep them on the phone as long as possible get some information ask where the microsoft uk head office is and what EOC stands for when they get stumped I say I work for microsoft

I'm used to these - but got a fantastic one recently .

After saying I couldn't see the windows key etc etc., light seemd to dawn on the guy - he paused and said 'Are you on a Mac ?"

When I said " but of course " the comment came back - " Oh you are lucky ! Sorry I have bothered you "

I felt sorry for the poor man. His command of English was much better than the others I've had

"You have a problem on your computer." "Which one?" "Erm..." "We have several, with most being Macs but a couple running Linux" "Erm... *Click, whirr*"

TBH, most of the time the number shows up as International so I answer in Greek - the only international calls we would want to answer would be from friends in Greece. The one word I never use on the phone to these "people" (and I use the term loosely...) is "yes", since it would be so easy for them to chop the word out and drop it in to a recording after a different question Paranoid? Maybe, but if they don't have the word, it's harder for them to do anything untoward with it!

To be honest, these people deserve absolutely zero politeness. My last response began with F and ended with F

We had scammers at our front door this morning. A man, a woman and a little girl. They said Jehovah had sent them. :)

The last one I had gave up when I wound him in so many circles that I was giggling too much and he put the phone down.

ive never had a single one of these,

Nor have I.

Anyone telling me my Windows are insecure will be told they are internally beaded and fitted with locks.
