Hello,

I'm SilverSurfer and I'm an ... ah the old ones are still old.

Anyway, I used to be quite active as a photographer as a youngster and all through my college days. I had the responsibility for the photos for my sister's wedding and, for the record, she still speaks to me.

I dabbled, as no doubt most keen (older) folks did, in black and white printing, bulk loaded 35mm Ilford XP1 to get cheap B&W mass developing etc.

So, after a break of a dozen years, I bought myself a new SLR, a Nikon D90 and wow. Never mind the kit, look at the manual! I've added a 80-200 f2.8 D lens and am hoping to add a macro lens as there's a lot of interesting fauna at the place I'm currently staying - which is near Lanark by the way.

Anyway, enough biography and looking forward to learning lots and improving plenty.

Cheers,

Silver Surfer - aka Stephen - aka Spud, but someone already has the moniker here I believe

Thank you. It seems it's hard to pick a bad one these days. Some just have different "extras" but the all do the essentials very, very well. No matter what the camera though, they don't help with the composition. The eejit behind the lens is still the weakest link!
