Hello there. I'm new to the forum and new to "serious" photography (only having taken snaps on my compact in the past). I'm a recent Dad so I figured I should do my new son justice by getting a "proper" camera (at least that's the excuse I told the missus). So I'm a new D70 owner and I'm enjoying every second of it!

This looks like a fantastic forum, and I look forward to posting more!

So, "hello all"!

Mike

What you mean 'looks fantastic' ... it is ...:p

 Hi and welcome!

Hello and Welcome

welcome Mike!

Hi Mike and :welcome: to the forum

 welcome

Hi, and welcome. Just seen the pics of your new baby......lovely babe, so must take after mum! Hope she is well rested and you are now expert at nappy changes. Looking forward to seeing Junior growing, so keep posting.

My advice to new parents is always....one pic a day for the first month and one a week for the first six months, as you will be amazed how quickly they change. have fun!

Thanks for the welcome ladies and gents.

Quick question - I'm trying to post in the classifieds second but I'm being told I've not got access. Do I have to do something special to get this access, or am I simply doing something stupid?

Ta!

I think there maybe a requirement for you to make a certain number of posts or time period before you can post in the classified section. I think this was put in place because people were joining just so they could try and sell stuff, and you would never hear from them again. They wanted to only allow this facility to genuine forum members, if you know what I mean.

I'm sure one of the site staff will be able to explain this better and confirm what I am saying is correct or not.

:welcome: to the forum by the way

Yup there's a small criteria on Classifieds Forum access.
Don't worry, it's only 10 posts (which you have), and required to be a member for 7 days (which you have been). So by now you should have classifieds access

That aside, welcome to the forums!

And  congratulations on the arrival of your littlun. I agree with photostar. Take as many pics as you can. Not only is it *great* practise, you really will be surprised at how much they change every day.
