Hi folks,

hoping to get back in to my hobby, which alas as lapsed for a year or two, due to life changing events IE devorce, new wife, new job, new location! It's all or nothing!

I have decided, for cost as much as anything, to stick with my Canon A1. I know about all the benefits of digital, and I also am of the opinion, that they are now probably, every bit as good as film, but hey, there are some real bargins out there, to be had, if you stick to film cameras. I know there not worth a light (no pun intended!), but I recently picked up a couple of zoom lenses (Tokina 28-85 (at 72mm a bit of a monster with a petal hood!) and a Tokina 70-210) both boxed as new, and a Cobra D650 Hammer flash, all very cheap.

If I changed all this to digital, it would cost me an arm & a leg, and after all, no digital camera can produce a BETTER image, than film!

I hope to make some frends on here, and I am sure I will meet many people with better knowledge than me!

I live in Harrogate, my other hobby is music, I play the organ, and now have a Tyros 3 keyboard which is really an amazing piece of kit. (look on u tube!)

I work at Harrogate college, and have been in electronics most of my working life.

Just thought I would introduce myself.

Kind regards

Rod :)

Hi Rod, Welcome.
There's nothing wrong with film (although I went completely digital some years ago), and the A1 is a cracking camera. In fact there's a "Film & Conventional" forum on here where I'm sure you'll find a lot of info and new friends.

cheers

A big well come to TP Ron I am sure you will enjoy the forum here.

afternoon and welcome

Big welcome Rodders06, you will just love everything about this site. On another note (pun not really intended) I have just inherited my late dads electronic organ, I am on my way to 70, is it too late to learn to play?

Hello rod, I look forward to seeing some of your photography in the near future. Make sure that you get out and start shooting while the weather is still ok.

Hi, many thanks for the nice welcome. Bluenose, your never too old to learn music. My music tutor is 80, and also goes to the gym!

Kind regards

Rod

Hi Everyone

I'm Craig has you can see from my pretty straight up username, lol.

I am kind of new to photography, i say kind of new due to the fact i'm no stranger to a point and shoot digital camera.

I am about to purchase my first bit of major kit (DSLR) and i need some advise. I have a budget of £500 to spend and i want something i can really get my teeth into. I was leaning towards a Nikon D5000 but what do I know.

I like to shoot anything that takes my eye so the kit would have to be flexible and be able to build on as I would love to take my photography further in the near future. (Thats if i'm any good though)

Hi Rod, and :welcome: to TP.

Ironically, you'll find many who're going back to film from digital ... there is something alluring about film that makes it such a magnate :)
