I've been rather preoccupied helping out a rather nice lady of late, not forgetting keeping busy with my own business. And how does this weekend find you, other than being at odds with the ex? BTW, if you don't already know it, a good bit of advice is never to try round 2 with an ex as it rarely works out.

Yep, me too, along with people of dubious moral standards and scruples.
The chances of that are slim though Ingrid. I learnt from my own experiences. Generally speaking, people do not change. They might set out to, but sooner or later they lapse back to their core behaviours.
The reality in a relationship is loving someone is giving them a license to hurt you, and at what point of being hurt do you say enough is enough :shrug: Trust, for me, is paramount in a relationship.

In general I agree with you Jon but just sometimes it's worth talking through and trying to iron things out, sometimes giving a second chance is a good thing, either to finally make the break or to help you realise what problems you had and possibly sort them put.
Trust and honesty are paramount for me too
It all depends on the invidual circumstances I suppose Ingrid? For me, I usualy take a lot/long time before I call it a day. By the time I have there's usually very little I need input from the ex on.
I think it's also fair to say we can find ourselves behaving differently dependent on the person we're in the relationship with. Some people bring out the worst in us, while others bring out the best. When I look back at the people i've given a 2nd chance to I've always come to regret that decision. Far better to never look back as you move forward, less we end up dragging some baggage with us eh?

I always take the view a leopard cannot change its spots Sarah. you might be able to shuffle them around a little, smooth out the rough edges so to speak, but fundementally when someone has been allowed to act a certain way by their partner it kinda sets the standard for the future.
You have a girly pick up and set your sights higher. There's plenty of decent guys out there, one will find their way to you eventually.
