Hey everyone I am new to the photography world. I just got a Nikon D300( I think that's the name my brain isn't working) so far I love it but would love to learn more on how to use the camera and photograph.

Welcome.check out the forums. Plenty of info within and you can always ask if in doubt..... :)

Hi Casey :welcome:

Hey welcome! Your nikon model number will be on the front of the camera next to the where the lens goes at the top

Have fun!

Hi Casey.

Welcome to the world of digital SLR photography.

I like to offer some advice. The manuals that come with most cameras are quite dry and boring to read (mine were). I like the Dummies series of books and think they are great when learning a new subject (I've got over 20 of them). So I would recommend you look at Nikon D300 for dummies.

Another book is Nikon D300 Guide to Digital SLR Photography.

Either of these books should help you get up to speed with your camera in no time. I have a Canon 400D and the first two books I bought were Canon 400D for Dummies and Canon 400D Guide to Digital SLR Photography and I found them really helpful.

Another book you want to read is Digital Photography Masterclass by Tom Ang. It's a beautiful Hardback glossy book, with fantastic photos and loads of tips and step-by-step guides. Tom was Senior Lecturer in Photographic Practice at the University of Westminster in London and he is a great teacher as well as an award winning photographer. I recommend this book to everybody starting out in photography.

I hope this helps.

All the best Casey, and enjoy your photography.

P.s. Always remember the No.1 rule of digital photography... Shoot. Shoot. Shoot.
Just take loads of photos and you will improve.
