Hello Talk Photography Forums!
I am norters and I am quite new!
Like most people I have been curious about photography since a very early age. I was given my first camera around the age of eight. You'll forgive me for not knowing the name of it but it was black, slim, rectangular and I loved it. I used to take that little thing everywhere and it actually served me well until I was eighteen
When I was eighteen I was given an 'advantix' camera. They were all the rage at the time! I used this through university mostly for taking snaps of drunken escapades!
After university I concentrated on work. I didn't fall out of love with photography I just gained other interests and never really got back into the swing.
Unfortunately, a couple of months ago, the business I worked for was going through a load of financial mess and had to downsize. Long story short, I was made redundant. The first thing I bought with the little amount of severance pay I received was a little point and shoot Nikon coolpix s3100 digital camera. I love the little thing and for the last two months it has been going everywhere I go.
After going out taking photos with my very talented photographer friend (www.amyart.co.uk if you would like to see her work) I was getting serious camera envy! She was snapping away with her gorgeous Nikon D90 and there I was with a perfectly usable point and shoot, still feeling like the under loved step child!
So this afternoon, after being out and about with my friend taking photos for her portfolio, I made a snap decision to upgrade to an entry level DSLR. A few hundred pounds later and here I am with my new Nikon D3100, patiently waiting for the battery to charge!
You'll excuse me if some (all) of my contributions to this forum are of the extremely 'newbie' (hate that word) variety but we all have to start somewhere!
Thanks for reading.
