Hello to everyone on the forum, I'm Heléna.

So, what brings me here...
I studied photography at gcse and found it really interesting and really enjoyed doing it.
I am studying media at college at the moment but wish to keep photography as a hobbie.

The gcse course that i did wasnt greatly helpful as it was all about taking photos 'in the style of' other peoples work and more about analyzing others work rather than trying to find your own style or anything like that.

So thats why i am here (:

Hi Helena and welcome, enjoy the TP and most of all enoy your hobby and what you want to photograph will become second nature to you

Rilla Mill? about 10 houses and a church

Lots of rural landscapes expected then! :p

Welcome to TP

Photography at GCSE level is never really helpful, as you say all you're basically taught is how to photograph like other people. I hated that. I also did photography at GCSE level, I then carried it on at college, I have to say I didn't learn an awful lot from doing either of them.
You'll most definately learn a lot more from this forum and also just from teaching yourself.
Reading photography magazines also helps my quite a bit too...

Good luck and enjoy yourself :)

Yeah, thats the one!
it's a pretty awful place to live when the weather is like this too, haven't been able to get home since Tuesday but luckily I have an awesome boyfriend who is putting me up at the mo

I've tried rural landscapes and some of them come out really nice but I just find it a bit boring as it's not really my thing

What do you prefer to photograph? I'd love to live somewhere with rural landscape around me, I have to do so much travelling to find some!! :(
