Hi everyone,

I'm totally new to this forum and this is my first post.

I've always loved photography but have been limited with my point and shoot camera. I'm currently on maternity leave and thought what better time than to purchase my first DSLR. So I now have a Canon 650D with an 18-55mm lens.

I'm totally new to the world of DSLRs but am excited to learn and start taking pictures. I'll admit I'm a little overwhelmed about the wealth of information there is to learn and wanted to get some good books that could teach me some of the basics. Can anyone recommended any good books for beginners?

I hope to learn a lot from here. I've already been lurking for a while and am blown away by some of the amazing photos.

Thanks for reading :)

Sarah

Hi and welcome from another Newbie - get out with your camera and practise. Alot! Get out of the Auto mode and see what works and commit to memory/make notes. That's my two pen'orth!

Thanks for the reply.

Ive already been practising with depth of field, shutter speed and ISO. It's so much more fun in manual than in Auto.

I'm determined to one day always have the confidence to shoot in manual :-)
