Hi all, I'm John
and have been browsing the forum for a couple of weeks now so thought it time I join up and contribute a little.
I used to do a bit of 35mm in my teens but in recent years have just used a compact for the odd snap. Then we purchased a Kodak 812iS bridge camera in 2008 for our honeymoon and this got used progressively more and more until I decided it was time to take the plunge and go DSLR.
After searching various forums, I decided against buying a new Canon 1000D, instead opted for a good condition second hand 350D which was a fair bit cheaper even including a Sigma 70-300mm. A friend has lent me a few Canon lenses to play with, including a x2 convertor and I am currently looking to buy a Sigma 170-500mm.
I'm still just starting out and staring up at the learning curve in front of me but reading through the threads on here, I think I'm starting to understand and experiment more.
My main photographic interest is nature and am very lucky to have a few great spots round me to indulge this. As I also run a sports car club, I'm hoping to get some good shots for our website too.
Anyhow, enough from me. I'm looking forward to using this forum and learning from everyone and maybe even sharing the odd pic.
