Another Lancastrian, it's raining here, too.

I've joined as I'm bringing my D50 out of it's retirement. I'm a hill walker. For the past four years I've been using a mixture of Powershot G9/various Panasonic/Nikon compacts. I've been reluctant to carry the SLR all day. Until now. I took it out a few weeks ago, realised it's actually not that much of a problem to carry it all day, once a suitable carrying system has been 'made'. Taking it out again has reminded me how much I love the D50. So, I'm going to use the D50 as my main camera, from now on. I'm keen to gain advice on a new lens, to begin with.

A little long-winded for an introductory 'hello'.

Thanks to all.

Where I am, I can accept (reluctantly) the ban. So dry, through the early months, I think it's the driest for sixty years. The fact that so much is lost through leakage doesn't help

Hi and welcome to the forum. There's a fair few of us from Lancashire and frequently get together for photography meets. Details here: Link

Hello fellow Lancastrian, and hello fellow Nikon shooter. ;)

Hello to you. Lots of Lancastrians here, it must be because we have the best scenery :)

Which section of the forum would be the best to ask a Nikon lens question? I'm guessing 'Equipment'?

Hi  and :welcome: to TP.
