Hi all, I have been looking a for a place on the web where I can start to make connections with other photographers. Places like Flickr and 500px don't really seem geared towards helping people get better or create communities but make it all about chasing numbers. So hopefully I am in the right place!

A little about me. I live in Northamptonshire and have had cameras for around 8 years. Now after spending a vast amount of money on lenses and gear I have realised that it is not the camera but me that is taking poor photographs lol. If only I had realised earlier :)

So I have decided to try something new, I am getting in to film photography and developing black and white film at home. To slow me down and focus my mind each time I press the shutter. Trying to not care what camera I am using and just focus on getting better images, concentrating on light and artistic elements.

This change of heart came after going to Hawaii and Finland recently and getting back to see thousands of boring snaps which I didn't connect with for some reason - probably because I wasted my holidays behind the camera :/

I love photography and now I need your guys help to get photography to love me back :)

For those that are local do any of you have any experience of camera clubs around these parts? The Kettering/Burton/Northampton one seems to be on a monday which I cant get to. But wellingborough has one on a thursday night. Just wondering how good they are or which one is the best to get involved with :)
 
We have a Natural History Society here in Northampton which has a very active photo section covering all aspects, but especially natural history. We meet at The Humphrey Rooms on Cheyne Walk most Wednesdays. Look for NNHS on google for more info.
