Hello to one and all.
Never really been on a photography forum before .... been on car forums but I'm 42 and knocking on a bit so it was either gardening, golf or pursue my very amatuer photography more.... No contest really and here I am
I've had a couple of Dslr's and got a bit fed up of the bulk and lens changing affairs after many years and the expense of having a few lenses too, I also was a bit of a pixel peeper but I'm over that now and realise that a photo is a photo and sometimes a bit of grain is nice and when a pic is zoomed out to fill a 24" monitor most pics from most cameras look the same resolution wise
So I thought long and hard about the Fuji X10 as I think its just a stunning bit of kit with lots of accessible features but couldnt get my head around not having a Dslr type viewfinder with at least 95% coverage and focus points and other info in it, also on a trip to Donnington at the weekend to watch the touring cars trying to take photos with an iPhone screen and looking at a friends Sony Dslr screen it was impossible to see with the bright low sun.
So I had a look at the Fuji X-S1 as a compromise and fell in love with it, the build quality is fantastic and lots of direct access to controls and the EVF is fab ... having a histogram and levels in a viewfinder will be something I never dreamed of having
And the zoom well crikey it's massive from the Sigma 300mm Ive come from! And don't get me started on the super macro thats incredible!!!!
So I've ordered the Fuji X-S1 with a view to getting the Fuji X10 later in the year for taking out at times when the bulk of the X-S1 just isnt realistic. Even though I have a sneaky feeling that the X10 will be the camera I would be probably taking out the most.
I've done 3 weeks of internet research and 3 visits to Jessops then discovered Fuji's Refurbished programme and for that kind of saving I thought I'd take the plunge.
My Fuji X-S1 arrives tomorrow and so does my promise to myself to get out more and photograph this incredible world we live in.
Anyway many thanks for listening to my ramblings ... Steve
