Hi everyone!
My name is Michelle, I'm 25 and I'm absolutely brand spanking new to any serious notion of photography as a hobby. I take pictures of myself and my baby usually (I'm that person everyone hates on Facebook). I want to take pictures of people still, as well as some more creative things (unsure what exactly but it will come to me!). I want a camera that's reasonably good at a bit of everything though, just to get started with.
I have joined this forum looking for a bit of beginner advice. I'm looking at a budget of £400 (would rather spend closer to £300 or less if possible!) to buy a camera for teaching myself with. I have narrowed it down to the Sony A58 (DSLT) or the Nikon D3200 (DSLR) and as I'm a newbie I'm not very sure whether the lack of optical viewfinder is a pro or a con with the Sony (my preference).
What am I gaining/losing by choosing the Sony camera over the Nikon? I really liked the feel of it in the shop but I'm unsure whether I'd be losing some vital option by not choosing a camera with an optical viewfinder...
And I believe there is an issue around lighting with the DSLT over the DSLR? Is this a big deal?
Any advice greatly appreciated.
