Hello one and all.

My name is Richard and I have just turned 21 on the 5th of February. This is partly why I am here as I received a nice new DSLR for my birthday. Had to put some money towards it but very happy with the camera.

I have got a Canon 600d which came with a 18-55 lens, spare battery, remote and bag. I have also purchased a tripod and Cards for it straight away. Future plans are to purchase another lens and a flash gun as a start.

So down to information about me. I live in a small ish town called Lymington on the south coast. I have always been into photography but have never been able to pursue it until now. I love cars and modifying my own. I have a civic coupe which is my pride and joy at the moment, I will post a picture below.

I want to experiment and see what interests me. I have always had a keen eye for cars and as I am constantly around them and going to meets I have lots of opportunity to practice. I am also looking forward to trying out new interests and seeing where photography leads me. So far its amazing even though I have only had the camera a couple of days I'm loving every minute.

I Have been studying up on the manual as well as online tutorials including this forum which has so much to offer. I feel that I have got used to the basic functions on my camera and can set it up well for myself how ever I know I have a long way to go but looking forward to progressing.

So here is my car. First car park had very orange lights unfortunately and this was my very first picture with my camera.

One thing I have come across is that once I had taken the picture and uploaded it onto the computer it looked brighter than on the camera. Not sure if this was down to me having the computer on high performance with bright settings or the pictures are just lighter than I thought. How ever it comes up just right on my phone when I view the pictures.


Hopefully this wasn't to much of an essay for people to read :lol:

Hi Dave, Good to see some locals on the forum. Yes nice few spots around just about finding them and trying to do something different.

Went out very quickly tonight to try my hand at light trails for the first time. Think I need to start uploading in high quality to facebook though as they seem to be losing a lot of the quality:

Awesome, good to know there are a lot of people about here.

Anyone on here ever meet up at all? I know on the car forums I'm part of we host regular meets but slightly different to a photography forum I guess.
 
Welcome mate, I'm also into cars myself but I'm into the German side haha ;)

Haha you can't hate me for loving the (dark) other side? Although I'd probably call it the same in terms of you and Hondas haha ;)

Yeah always been around them/into them and think they're a great subject to photograph!

haha Im a Jap man through and through but appreciate any good car no matter the make. Both my parents drive golfs.

They are great to work with just keeping them clean in the winter months is the hard part.

Will have a read through now =]

A bit of the way away from here then.

It is different on here, but i am sure we can arrange a meet, would be good, and it would get me out and doing some photography.
 
thought it could be good always good to meet new people and talk about things.
 
awesome, guess now we just need to find a mutual interest or somewhere local to meet and so on
