Thought I'd join the forum so Hi everyone:)

I'm the very recent owner of an EOS 400D with the standard 17-55mm lens.

I mainly got into photography after buying a Nikon Coolpix 5700 and got into using it a bit more creatively. Unfortunately a very cold trip to New York must have been too much for it and it died. So I decided the next purchase would have to be a DSLR. Due to other commitments I didn't buy one for 9 months until December. Shame because I really liked that camera.

For the 400D, I'm looking at getting a better lens, preferably something for general use.

I'm on flickr too.. This has a mix of the old camera pics and the new one.

Howdy :D welcome to the forums!

Really like some of your Paris shots :)

Hi, your not far away from me!

Welcome.

Hi there, and welcome to TP - Another "local" is never a bad thing (says the bloke who's lived in Ilford, Harold Wood, West Thurrock, Cranham and Elm Park before coming to rest on Canvey).......

Checked out your Flickr pages and looking forward to seeing some more of your work on here......

Lol cheers Yoby, you've certainly been around ;)

Hoping to buy a new zoom lens soon as I'm not finding the kit lens as sharp as I'd like. How do you get on with the 50mm f/1.8? Its about a quarter of the price of the f/1.4 version, but I assume isn't 1/4 of the image quality. I like large aperature stuff you see... Any major shortfalls with a prime lens, other than having to get the correct distance of the subject of course?

the nifty 50 is cracking - best bit of kit I've got so far. Can't even remember where I put the kit lens.

This was a quick tester the day it turned up -

Got mine from Kerso - was £57 (I think). Would have liked the 1.4 but couldn't justify the extra cash as I too need a new telephoto.......
