Hi all,

I finally decided it was time to move past the two preset modes (sport and portrait) that I use on my Fuji S2000HD bridge camera - it seems to take an age to turn on, and is lacking in zoom! I tried to get it out of my pocket and turn it on to catch a Robin the other day - alas the moment was gone

I keep a little "dog's blog" (2 x ESS and 2 x GSD), and though I occasionally manage to get a couple of decent shots, most are deleted!

I figured out that in full manual mode, I only have a choice of 2 aperture settings, and I don't really know enough about exposure/shutter speed to get the best of this. For portraits I found that the preset mode gives better results than me on Aperture priority, and I get mixed results on shutter priority - although I find I can "freeze" the dogs better, they're sometimes dark and sometimes grainy.

I'll post some examples when I can do links... hoping to learn to get some better results :-)

Hi Michael and a warm welcome to TP.
Hope you enjoy yourself here :)

Hi Michael, And welcome aboard TP. "Enjoy".

Hi there Michael :welcome: to the forum

Hello. I had a S2950 which ils about the same thing from a different year than yours I guess. I also found it pretty slow and the aperture priority is a joke. I'm not even sure there's a real diaphragm in the lens. I always suspected it could be a ND filter instead. Long story short, the images were mostly fine but I needed to have time to setup the shot and let the camera do its own thing (focus, exposure...). Not so good for action. Also, avoid the highest sharpening in the image quality setup as it tends to produce funny pixelization when viewing at 100% (in my case at least).
Anyways be welcome to share the good ones. Does your model have a good closeup/macro mode? That was a strong point I actually liked on mine.
