Hello to all
I've been browsing for a while addictively since I found the iPhone app. So it has come to the time I feel I should say hi.

I'm new to the photography scene and what started as an upgrade to get some better quality point and shoot photos has turned into a very expensive and addictive hobby.

I'm using a 500D at the moment with a few starter lenses. My favourite being my latest purchase (canon 85mm f1.8 ). I hope as I progress I will have the confidence to share some of my photos with the forum.

From what I have read so far every one seems very friendly so I look forward to chatting and sharing with you all.

Ah not far then!

Church Langley, Harlow - there are a few people I have chatted to on here already from Essex and all are very nice and helpful.

At the moment I'm playing a lot with portrait stuff since I bought a home studio kit. But I'm a bit of a fair weather man so been setting up indoor shots of water the last few evenings.

I guess I'm into shooting anything I like the look of people, cars and landscape are the main things that I go out of my way to find though.

How about your self?

Count me in...IG2!!! Hellooooo. By the way..Quick question. I'm using the tp app on my iPad, but cannot find how to upload a profile pic, or any other pic for that matter. Am I missing something?
 
Welcome - I didn't realise there was such a big essex contingent.. Maybe will have to arrange a TP informal meet in our restaurant (which hapens to be in Essex).
 
Profile pic has to be done on pc I believe, not sure about normal uploads. This Essex thing maybe addictive many coming out the woodwork :)

I seem to photograph woodland subjects a lot, wildlife and every now and then I go to the mountain bike trails in Danbury Common plus I like going to Brands Hatch.

Dambury is up the road from me, and once the season starts again brands is very much a place I visit btcc both rounds for the last 3 years.

Essex seems to be full of toggers, does anyone have any suggestions for landscape shots?
 
Sp33x if you park at Danbury Country park and wealk a cross the road there are some nice views there. The mountain bike trails are the same side as the CO-OP in Danbury I am not far from there either.

There's certainly a fair few of us. :thumbs:

There was a landscape meet late last year which focused on Danbury park, Heather Hills, and Little Baddow. Failing those places you have no end of picks, from Epping Forest to Dedham Vale, and everything inbetween. Coastal scapes are even better catered for in Essex.

Have a quick search of the forums for essex landscapes and you'll find plenty of suggestions.

Thank you for your reply, I will take a walk around Dambury soon I feel a bit ashamed that I live so close and fished there as a kid but it hadn't popped into my head for photography.

The river crouch is where I spend a fair amount of time some great views to be captured.

Yes we could have an Essex meet & greet, sit & chat, exchange stories, admire each others equipmnet, and have a bite to eat :)
 
Sounds like a future plan, although I rarely have my equipment out when I'm eating. ;)
 
We should break away and make our own Essex TP!! :lol:

I don't think I've ever seen so many replies in a welcome thread. There are a lot more Essex members than I thought.
 
Well guyz and girlz this is a warmer welcome than expected, so I took the plunge a put up my first image in macro. If anyone can give a pointer for improvement it would be great. But remember I am a newbie :). Be nice.

Im from essex too. Im in colchester. There are lots of nice places in this area and I bet there are plenty undiscovered too.

That starts a whole new essex question i use a 500D but am looking to upgrade soon. (7d or 5d not sure yet).

But what is there more of in Essex canon, nikon or other? ide be interested to know.
 
Janice is from Essex too, but you will have to tease the confession from her..:)

I think the county offers much for the landscape photographer - people tend to be put off because it is perceived as being fairly flat, but there are some lovely open skyscapes, particularly on our remote and rather secret coastal marshes. The Essex Weald between North & South Weald is beautifully rolling and very rural, despite being so close to London, and there are of course Epping and Hatfield forests. We also have a wealth of pretty villages, and I believe the largest stock of medieval timber framed houses in the country.
