Hello everyone. I've stumbled across this forum whilst looking for some tripod reviews. I was immediately impressed by the high level of activity and helpfulness demonstrated in the postings, so I’ve signed up.

Interest in photographs and photography started when I was about 7 or 8. My Granddad was a compositor on the Mirror in Manchester, and one of his mates was a sports photographer there. I used to get shed loads of 10” x 8” B&W prints of loads of news photo’s of the day. I wish I still had them, especially the footy (1966) and boxing ones..

Anyway, I’ve been taking pictures since about 1972 when on my way to school I was caught up in some of the great floods of that year. I went home, nicked my dad’s camera and started clicking. (I’ve just been to my mum’s to see if she still had the pictures; they’re a bit rag-eared but here’re two of them.)

(Well, they were taken by a giddy 14yr old and are 38 years old!)

I went through loads of gear, possibly too much. At one time I had Canon AE1, 2x AE1P, 2 x A1 and 1 T90, then everything started going digital.
Not got much stuff now, and most of it wants renewing (hence the looking for tripod reviews)
Anyway, I’m looking forward to getting involved and maybe enter a comp or so.

Hi Geoffrey,

yes not far at all. I'm in Disley, which is where Cheshire meets Derbyshire and Greater Manchester. I'm 10 minutes walk from Lyme Park :).

Hi Stephen, and :welcome: to TP.

38 year-old, and shot by a 14 year-old, impressive they are. Glad to see more adding to the ranks of "old-timers" here.

Thanks Wail, Old timer eh? Guess I am, but young inside like I'm sure we all are:)

It is indeed a good place to live. Lyme Park itself has loads of interesting photo content, and although I live on a main road, I can get to Edale via Kinder Scout without walking down roads, only crossing them.

Brill..:)
