Hi All,

New here. I'm Matt, a displaced Stokie living in Chester.

I got in to photography a few months ago. I started out with a Fujifilm X10 and have quickly moved on to the Sony A7R. I found the noise on the X10 to be inhibiting when it came to post processing. I've only got the Sony FE 28-70 kit lens at the moment, I spent too much on the camera to justify buying a load of new expensive lenses as well! Her indoors is already complaining!

I'm mainly interested in landscape photography at this point, but I'm sure I'll experiment with other stuff in the future. An existing member here recommended the forum to me, so here I am!

Anyway, I'll be lurking around here, learning and most likely asking too many questions!

Hi & welcome to the forum Matt - I'm only just down the road from you so give me a shout if you fancy heading out to get some shots sometime. I use the studio in Chester too in case that's something you may be interested in.

Mike, that's a very kind offer. Where are you based? I wouldn't know the first thing about how to setup a flash/lighting for a studio shoot though! I haven't gotten as far as researching portrait photography yet.

I'm over on the Wirral, about 20 mins away from you I'd imagine but I head over to Chester a lot for street photography :)
The studio is just a good laugh to be honest mate, no pressure & either myself or one of the others that attend can show you lighting/camera setup if you're ever interested in trying it out. I also shoot landscapes, sports, etc - pretty much anything to be fair :)

You've got some nice shots in your Flickr there too mate, "road to nowhere" is particularly nice (would look ace in black & white too imo)

I keep saying I'll have a bash at street photography but I panic about getting rumbled taking pictures of random people!

I've been focusing on landscape and architecture mostly.

I'd definitely be up for meeting up though. Your photos are great so I'm sure I could learn a lot from you!

welcome, although I realise this thread has just been resurrected, but thought I'd say I'm also from Chester!
