Hello everyone, I've been lurking about for a few days and finally decided to come out of the shadows..

I'm 19 and from Thornbury (South Gloucestershire), and I use a Sony Alpha 100 (and occasionally my old Minolta Dynax 5!)

I did photography at school, but only did AS level before dropping it after getting frustrated with the teaching techniques.. well more importantly the teachers! (Foolish choice I now realise)

Anyway, I went to Uni last Sept to study Religion, Eastern mostly, and am now officially a drop out. I've always been a photographer at heart, and it got to the point where I knew it was all I ever wanted to do - nothing that comes at the end of a degree in Religion!

So here I am.. currently doing the BFP course, alongside building up my portfolio and getting experience here and there, with the intention of trying to get somebody to hire me... and hopefully someday branching out on my own as a Professional Photographer.

It's been pretty stressful - leaving uni to follow a dream with no job lined up, but I know my direction and may even go back to college next year if I don't make enough progress this way.

Anyway hello! There are so many amazing photographers on here and I've only just scratched the surface - I'm sure I can learn alot from everyone.

Hi and welcome

Hello Selkie from Thornby. And welcome.

I'm John from just a couple junctions up the M5.

Uni is pretty much useless if you haven't got a proper handle on what you want to do. So going around the loop twice will be a huge benefit. Good luck.

Thanks John, that's what I thought in the end, feels like nowadays school/college shuffles you to uni whether you are clear on what you want to do or not, which results I suppose in lots of confused people like me! (And debt!)
