And now for something completely different...
Hello all
I thought I'd better introduce myself as I have quite a different photography background the norm.
I started out in 2008 with a Sony a200 but very, very quickly wanted to buy something a little better than the kit lens. I stumbled across the M42 section of a well known Minolta/Sony forum, and before I knew it had purchased an M42 adapter and an old Helios 44M-4 58mm f2 prime lens. Using old lenses on DSLRs became a real fascination for me, and I've since had a lot of input into the main manual focus forum. Using manual focusing and aperture control really helped me learn a lot about the very basics of photography, and I've gone on to buy some fantastic, yet cheap lenses.
I've since swapped to using Canon DSLRs, and have been through a 300D and 30D before purchasing a 40D and then later a used 5D classic. I've since also purchased a 1000D for those times where I don't want to lug a heavy bag around.
I'm currently mostly using Contax Carl Zeiss lenses, a few Nikon wide angles (on the Canon of course
) and some Tamron SP zooms and mirrors...and I love them all! I'll probably buy my third AF lens at some point this year - am currently looking out for a 300/f4 L.
