Hi,
It said to introduce yourself here...so here I am. I am Jo and a very very keen photographer! After much success taking photos for myself and a few friends and family, I am now in the process of setting up my own business with a fellow enthusiastic photographer and talented graphic designer. We are going to specialise in black and white photos, particularly of children and out on location...why not potentially earn money doing what you enjoy? I am aware that it is unlikely that we'll ever make our millions and I'm pretty sure that at least in the near future, I will earn less than I do as a teacher...however, I love it!
We also have a studio (just got to paint it white) and kit it out...I have little idea where to start so any advice would be welcome!
Well - I'm going to try and navigate around this site and hopefully pick up a tip or 2!

hi Jo, i'm new to here to and have already set out on the rocky path of "paid" photography. I'm a self-employed IT consultant and often have 3/4 days a week kicking about, so i thought i'd give it a go.

Can't offer much advice at the moment, but wish you every success and look forward to seeing some of your work in due course.

There are loads of VERY helpful people on here and i'm sure if you have any specific questions, someone will be along to help you in the Business section !

all the best

Hi Jo & welcome to the forum

There are a few people on here that have created their own studio in a variety of locations so I'm sure the help you seek will be on hand :)

Welcome and good luck with the bussiness:thumbs:

:lol:Thank you everyone. Had our first shoot last weekend, and another yesterday. Big responsibility! Last weeks was fantastic and I am more than pleased with the results. Yesterdays was OK....I'm very critical and prefer outdoor shoots so this wasn't really my cup of tea. Knocked my confidence a little.....but then it's better to be critical and strive to improve surely?!
Studio now ready so just got to kit it out. Vinyl arrived on Friday....just need to suss out the lighting (amongst other things!)

Hi Jo, and :welcome: to TP.

Best of luck with your endeavour; would be great if you could see what others here have posted with regards to setting up their own studio; may be you'd be able to give us your input on a step-by-step basis. Personally, I've found this to be very rewarding.
