Hi there! My name's Tom and I'm the proud owner of a (relatively) new Sony Alpha 200, which my parents bought me for my 18th birthday last November, along with two lenses - a 18-55mm and a 70-300mm. I use the 18-55mm a lot more than the telescopic lens - but it's useful to have a lens with a greater zoom for those subjects a little further away.
I've been thinking of getting myself a prime - perhaps a 50mm f/1.4. I understand that the bigger aperture will allow for faster shutter speeds without compromising on exposure.
I'm still very much a beginner - although I've got the basics of the Manual setting down (shutter speed vs. aperture, as well as manual focus and exposure). I've not yet got to grips with the more advanced settings, such as white balance and metering modes, but I suppose I can only learn with practice.
I'll be posting some of my shots here very shortly - and will try to maintain a steady flow of images whilst I'm here.
Thanks for reading, and happy new year.
