Thought I'd make this my first post before bombarding everyone with silly questions. I used to own an Olympus E-410 which was my first (and only) DSLR, I decided I wanted a big zoom so sold it and bought a Canon SX40 HS. the Canon takes some very nice pictures and the zoom is great fun, however I found myself wanting the an SLR.

As I haven't won the lottery (yet), I thought for a bit of fun, I would get a 35mm SLR to play with. So off to Ebay and looking through lots of web sites regarding which one to go for, I Settled on either the Minolta Dynax 5 or the Canon AE-1 Program. Both very different cameras but each seemed to have good points going for them. Eventually got a Dynax 5 with 10 rolls of film for £26, just waiting for it's arrival and then it's off to 'learn' a bit of photography. :)

So before all the questions start flowing, I'll ask for forgiveness now :whistling:

Hey Andy welcome to TP! as mike has shown you we have a fantastic film section here, i too have just started shooting with film and love it, they are also extremely lovely and helpful over there, as is the rest of the forum of course..:D

Look forward to seeing you and your images around the forum:wave:

Thanks for your replies, I'll certainly have a read through the film section. My plan is to eventually get a DSLR, but will have to wait for a little while.

Cg_Girl, where in Northants are you, I'm also in the Northants area?

I'm on the other side of Northampton in Earls Barton. What camera(s) do you use for film?

Ah yeah i know where you, i only have the one so far it's a Pentax ME, but i have my eye on the OM1 or a Voitglander and half the cameras the other guys have in the film section:banana:

I'm still scouring Ebay for a nice Canon AE-1 Program at the right price, there's some really good reviews for it on the net.

 Hi Andy and welcome aboard.

We really are a friendly bunch, so sit back, put your feet up and make yourself at home.
As has already been said, we have a fabulous film section with loads of knowegeable and helpful members - they'll know everything you want to know about film cameras and more!

Thanks for the welcomes :)

On the downside, the camera turned up and the lens looks to be knackered. Agreed on a partial refund from the seller, so currently on the lookout for a bargain replacement on Ebay.

Just won another Dynax 5 for £12 with a lens :) Guess I have a Dynax 5 body to sell now.

Welcome to TP Andy and also the incessant craving for camera's and their related goodies :) It's as bad as any addiction!!

Look forward to seeing you about
