Just a quick note to introduce myself... I've been into photography for sometime, but like many I'm sure, never found the time to devote myself to it fully.

Well over the past year I have been trying to rectify that! I'm currently using a 450d body but slowly building up my lenses. 50mm of course, standard 18-50mm and 22-105mmL. Also got my lee filters now. Ultimately upgrade to 5d mk2...

Into landscape and urban mostly. So with this in mind, any suggestions for a good EF wide angle?

Welcome to TP, I take it you mean 24-105 L ?

I hear the canon 10-22 gets great reviews, also sigma also do a pretty decent 10-20.

Check out the talk equipment forum, theres sure to be a thread or two on this.
