I've got a couple of questions :-

Which photographic magazine would you recommend to read ????

Do you think it's worth putting any photographs onto one of these websites that sell them for you, i.e Bigstock, is it worth the hassle ? the time or is just not worth it ??

Thanks

Vanessa:)

hello n welcome firstly...

Can suggest anything to sell photos online, but a really good magazine which i've subscribed to is photographymonthly. Very good magazine... (=

If you like outdoor photo's i.e. landscape, wildlife etc. then outdoor photography is quite good.
As for your other question, you really need to have a lot of photos in there to have any chance of selling some, but on the other hand it does no harm and you might just have what someone is looking for.

Hi Vanessa and welcome to TP

Magazines - the best thing would be to try a few and see which one you like, they are all very similar as far as I can see and tend to just recycle the same old thing every few months or year or so. Most are more about post processing than actual photography.

As for putting your images on Bigstock and similar sites - it is not quite as simple as sending them some pictures and waiting for the money to roll in, unfortunately. You can make money from these sites IF you are prepared to work at it and supply the type of images that clients want. You need to be quite thick skinned, and prepared to learn quickly as the sites will refuse images that do not suit their needs or that are not deemed good enough, and the standards are quite high.

I enjoy Practical Photography from time to time, but after a year or so I found that many of the articles got repetitive. I don't read any magazine on regular basis and only ever buy a few in a year, so I dip into a mix of Amateur Photographer (the only weekly mag), Photography Monthly and Practical Photography.

They're all okay for features, project ideas and news, but no substitute for a good book if you're looking to learn about photography.

Thanks for your replies.

I think I'll just try a few magazines every so often.

Kerioak - I'm just wondering at the moment about these websites. I really don't expect the money to be rolling in. *** it's just I'm looking for ways to earn money whilst my daughter is at school and I can do during school hours. Just looking at and exploring all avenues at the moment.

You recommended Park Cameras in my previous email, I'm literally down the road from it and have been once, but now the schools are back, yay!!, I can go in peace.

Thanks
