Hi have been reading lots of post already but have yet to post, so figured to day was the day for me to make my post debut lol. After some advice have just treated myself to a canon 7d this week getting well excited for it arrival :):) does anyone have any lens advice? its coming with a 18-135mm but this wont cut the mustard for surf photography and filming. Have been looking abit in the 70-200mm L4 lens without IS, and the 70-300 4-5.6 usm IS lens which one would be best for this type of thing? are there any other recommendations outside of the lenses Ive mentioned? would prefer it to be light and rubust too, as gunnu be travelling in 3 months time for a few years. Any advice would be absolutely awesome chhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeeers Josh :):):):):):D

Of those two I'd go for the 70-200 f4 , but if you can afford it the 70-200 f2.8 is worth a look too (although its not really light)

70-200 f4 is a great light lens. Is it long enough for surfing? I've always used the 100-400,

Hiya, cheeeeeers everyone for the replies :):):):) and welcomes :):) also cheers for the advice :):) really really wanting the 70-200mm not sure its gunnu be long enough for surfing either tbh, also the non IS could be an issue? is it gunnu be steady enough freehand or am I gunnu need a tripod for every shot? or am I better off goin for the cheaper 70-300mm USM IS? how much of a difference is there with the image quality? the only thing that's making me thing that its gunnu be long enough is this video shot on a 7D with the L series lens http://vimeo.com/59951540 Ive only got a budget of 400 really as well don't really wanna spend much more as Itll ekkk into my travel funds, any advice would be awesome cheers Josh :):):):)

One advantage of the F4 is you can if necessary use it with a 1.4tc to have an effective 300, yet still retain the advantage of a large apperture when you don't need the TC. (the F2.8 version can habilly be used with a 2xtc for longer shots)

Reffeence camera shake - It depends what you are doing , for surfing where you'll need a fast shutter speed to freeze the action anyway, the fast shutter will also eliminate wobble (I use my 170-500 free hand at 1/500 without a problem)

that said if funds are that limited you might be better of with the cheaper lens, or even a 90-300 non IS which is cheaper still

Chhhheeeeeers for the advice, figured the L series was gunnu be too blingy when me and my G/F go traveling, so have opted for the 70-300mm USM IS lens just hope Im not too disappointed :( are they still an okish lens? couldn't afford to go for the IS version of the 200mm, hoping that the USM lens is okish

My new cameras turned up and im beyond stoked!! :):):) sooooo much different to my d3200, cant wait to get out and take some pictures with it :):):) yeeeeeeeeeeeeew:):):):)
