I'm resurrecting my Nikon F3 HP and assorted lenses to start using film again. The F3 needs new seals etc and then is good to go. The first lens I want to fettle as it's very stiff to focus is a Nikkor 35mm f2 AI , The stiffness I suspect due to being stored for a long while and the grease solidifying. I've warmed it up slightly and it's not free'd off. I think what I'm left with is to strip the lens down, clean, re-grease and re-assemble.
I have a couple of questions:
Firstly what is the best grease to use?
Secondly what to use to lock the screw threads up at re-assembly.
From a screw thread perspective the heads of a number of screws seem to be fixed with a shellac or something similar ... I'm not too keen on using a cyanoacrylate based adhesive/threadloc so I'm looking for an alternative

Thanks for the Info Trevor.
I'd seen the Pig Iron lubricant, have you used it successfully? I'm assuming that it doesn't split and cause issue with oil leakage.
I find Richard Haw's site a valuable resource.

Thanks again

No, I've not used it yet. I only ordered some myself last Wednesday and it hasn't arrived yet. I'd never have known about it otherwise.

I was told it was the best to get by an old friend who told me that it's the stuff people in 'the trade' use. (y)
