weekly Helen C's 52 for 23. Week 52 - Favourite shot of 2023

I'm glad you said it was fleeced, as I also thought it was snow at first glance, but decidedit was probably a fleece. Did you try a lower composition to remove the tree, just wondering how that would have worked? The one you have produced is very eye catching though.

A really nice image great colour palette I like the tree being in shot.

Great shot Helen, I love the soft muted colours.

That's a great image.

I was trying to figure out where you'd found snow...
That's a belter :)
Brilliant image.
Effective image Helen. Well composed.
Very nice. Looks like snow!
I like the point of view and subtle shades Helen.
Thanks for taking the time to make some lovely comments. When I first saw the field I thought "snow???" too.

@n1kcy I was pretty low to get the image in the first place as I was trying to remove the tree completely. I did crop it out on other images but then decided that the top of the tree added a point of interest and focus. The image without it was a bit too abstract and rather bland.

Thanks @Allanh
I need to ask. What is a fleeced field?
I thought it was snow too !
@LC2 Some farmers use fleece to protect newly planted crops and seeds from frost and cold.. it helps to develop an early crop too with the added warmth. Not sure what was planted here - could be potatoes or even asapargus which is fairly common in this area.

More agricultural landscapes... the smooth lines and curves of the field caught my eye... and the howling gale didn't help the handheld shot...

An interesting and relevant take on the theme Helen.
Clouds and diagonal lines add interest.

Nice scene, it may be interesting to pop back mid summer and take another one, when the crop has matured, so you have the "then and now" set.

Another beautiful landscape Helen, I like it a lot.

Very nice fleece/ landscape picture followed nicely by the second landscape, it’s still blowing a gale here

That's a good shot Helen, the clouds adds drama.

Love smooth rolling hills, nicely done

The weather has been interesting the past few days...
Nice landscape (as always) Helen.
The landscape reminded me of a Windows background, nice shot.

Thanks for the comments folks. @Crotal Bell I will definitely be back as we don't have many "hills" round here.

I like that, simple but effective and beautifully exposed.

I like this, I enjoy doing similar shots when I'm in a city. Have you thought about trying a black and white conversion? You've been able to really up the contrast and highlight the shapes.

Different but effective Helen.
I hope you tried the wine.

A very stark picture I agree with Nicky above a black and white conversion might work as well

Thanks @n1kcy Unusual for me but I rather like the colour version which has a softness rather than stark mono. I will give it a go a some point though.

Thanks @Peter123 Unfortunately The Winerack is the name of a posh apartment block on the quayside...
Very nicely done Helen.

Yes, that certainly works. There certainly is something... majestic?... about pylons striding across the countryside.

Nicely picked out - I like the way (but wonder why) they suddenly go at near right angle?

Back to the country :)
Fits the theme & unusual to see the right angle

good idea for the theme Helen and the angle adds interest.

Certainly leads your eye through the scene.

Really like the composition on this one.

:agree: really well composed good image for the theme
Thanks for dropping by and commenting... and I have no idea why they suddenly change direction!

The composition really makes this shot, love the way you are led through the shot.

Time to worry... I took this last Thursday and have happily spent the week thinking I cracked the TP early and all done and dusted. Until I realised today that I hadn't actually posted it :headbang:

Worth the wait Helen, it's a nice image. I'm imagining rain on a car but it could be so many things.

I was making coffee and mulling over the theme when I heard the sudden rainstorm and looked up to the kitchen skylight - "ah ha!"
