..looks like I've sold my 400D to a friend of a friend, so now I'm moving up to the dizzy heights of a 450D!! :D Where's cheapest to buy one, either body only or with kit lens???

I'm not interested in the 40D just at the moment before anyone suggests it!! ;)

i get a 40d if i were you

7dayshop might be worth a look

That's two, and I say 'get a 40D' as well, so that's three :p

I should never have mentioned the 40D..... :(

I think people were inevitably going to mention the 40D assuming your upgrading because you found the 400D to be limiting you then you would find yourself far less limited with the 40D I'd say it's worth it for the the thunmb wheel on the back alone but hey thats just me!

As for the price have you asked our good man Mr Kerso? He may deal in the american version but I'm sure it'll be at a pretty compelling price.

Spot metering and live view is the main reason for the upgrade, and it's not a big jump in price from my 400D, but I'd be looking at another £100 to jump into 40D territory, which I can ill afford. Plus, I've actually got quite small hands (smalls hands....big ego..;) ), so the 400D has always felt comfortable even after lugging it around all day.

40D
:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::woot::thumbs:

Only joking!!!! You get the camera you want:thumbs:

To be honest, it doesnt really matter what you get, as after a month or so you will want to go up one more and get a 5D, then a 5D MkII, then into 1D country.

So just get anyone.

If i were you though, id get the 40D (and i had one before my 5D) and it is a brilliant camera, different league to the 400D.

i'd say get the 40d! it's great. my friend has one (& a 400d!) he has small hands but loves the 40d, at least try it out

congrats on the sale:thumbs:

and congrats on the can of worms:popcorn: ill await the I GOT A 40D post soon:lol:

I have a 400 and got the 40D ... never mind spot and live view - 6.5 frames per second...it is also more intuitive IMHO and it has come down £250 since I bought it :bang:...but clearly here no one has the 450D so what do we know..

I struggle to understand why someone would upgrade from the 400D to the 450D. Thats like going from the 300D to the 350D to the 400D! There is hardly any difference. Go for a 40D, you will regret it if you don't.

If you can avoid peer pressure then I bought my 450d from 7dayshop.com
I was going to use warehouse express but apparently I live on a desert island in the middle of the north pole and it would take an expedition to deliver a parcel to me, even though we get a courier here every working day.

For a similar price, you can get a 40D fella, i'd say go for it. (We'll convince you, believe us )

I too only have small hands, so i'm wondering what a 40D will feel like, but I think it's one of those things where you'll adapt to it.

i also fail to see why you'd want a 450 over the 40d.

more FPS (6fps vs 3.5), much bigger through the viewfinder, more settings, feels more substantial, the list goes on...

if you still want a 450d, then go for it, but i think that the 40d would be a much better purchase.

I'm struggling to see where I could get a 40D body for the £400 mark even 2nd hand, unless anybody has any suggestions, so it's still the 450D for me at the moment

I'm sure he would, but £400 is my upper limit, and he's not going to get near that I reckon. :(

It's like all budgets.. for just a little more you could have x, but then if you are doing that for just a little more you could have x+

Thanks for all the advice, but the 450D is ordered - your 40D's can eat my 12MP dust (not on the sensor hopefully)!! ;) :)
