Hi ,

I find the strap that came with my 50d to be very uncomfortable when used with a 70-200 is or 400mm 5.6 prime. I have seen some like the "sun sniper" and would like to know if anyone who has used one what their opinion is of them? Or if you have an alternative you can recommend please do.

I dont want to waste spending £40 + on a strap that will not be of use.

Regards,

John

I'd second the Black Rapid, great peace of kit. You can get a knock-off copy on fleebay called the Q strap I think but I wouldn't know what it's like. Amazon have the RS7 for £42 and not a huge outlay considering the cost of the kit hanging around your neck.

have had the Q strap version for a while now - just as strong as the Black Rapid - get one of these and put the £30 saving towards something else

I've got an R strap and a sun sniper steel strap. I prefer the sun sniper as I find it more comfortable and i like the idea of the steel wire through the middle making it cut resistant when I've got over 5 grands worth of camera hanging from it.

I don't understand why people feel the need to skimp on the only thing stopping a few grands worth of kit bouncing off the ground.

I should also be receiving my sun sniper DPH dual harness on Wednesday so I'll be able to compare.

I've just bought an Op/Tech which I'm really happy with. They are less than £20.
I really like the look of the Crumpler Industry Disgrace, too.

Thanks all for your feedback on this. The B-Rapidgets good reviews and I understand you can get an attachment so you can fit direct to the manfrotto mounting bracket.

Mike does the sun sniper have an attachment so you can fit straight onto the tripod bracket to save having to remove it from the lens mount bracket?

The fixing is similar to the R strap so I would think that the same fitment that people use for that would work.

I've seen a few posts about fixing an R strap to a rapid release plate.

I bought a sunsniper a few weeks back and love it
The other great thing being that you can put a back pack on over it and it makes little difference to being able to use the camera
It has a karabiner type hook on it so I would imagine you could clip it to most things with the loop fitting

I'll add another vote for the sunsniper steel strap. It's very comfortable.

Of the regular straps on the market the Op/Tech ones are one of the best out there, the BR ones take it to another level though, but obviously at a hefty price differential....

I've got the BlackRapid RS-7 and can recommend it. It's comfortable and more than capable of holding my Sigma 150-500 :)

I have used the Q strap to good effect. nice and comfy for a full days shooting
