Heavier line drawing

If I have a line drawing and I want to make the lines heavier does anyone know of a simple way it can be done using photoshop.

I have just grabbed an example picture off the internet eg:

So look at how thick the lines are, how can I make them thicker. I do not have access to them as a vector graphic only as a bitmap.

I want all the existing lines thicker than they currently are using CS4 if possible. As the technique will need to be given over to Mrs_C it needs to be CS4 or something else on the Mac. Not sure how MSPaint would make the lines thicker!

Duplicate the layer and set it to mulitply a few times and maybe add a tiny bit of gausine blur to some of the layers. That should make the lines bolder

I did it another way for a play...

I increased the size a lot and increased the contrast until all the lines were pure black and the white pure white, then used the magic wand set to zero tolerance on the black so it selected the entire plane at once, every line of it, and simply added a stroke - in my mess about this thing ended up 70cm wide at 300 dpi

For even more fun - I then erased the white and begin to fill the panels a bit like a kid's colouring book

select colour range, pick black, and either expand the selection and fill or fill the selection with black depending on how bold you want ie to be

If you have an Erode filter (as in Paint Shop Pro):
Upsize by 2x or more (more for a less pronounced result)
Apply Erode filter to taste
Soften to taste, if concerned about jagged diagonals
Downsize
Sharpen to taste

Snag is the lines are not black, they are a range of greys, which is why I increased the contrast to first make them all black

but you can easilyt change the tolerance to select them

EditL: just tried it and my way sucks, antialiasing messes it up

copy set blend to muitply and then move up one pix and left one pix keep doing this for as much ans you need and it keeps detail
