Heathers (10yrs old) first gallery...

and no dad can argue with their little girl

and they know it grrrrr

just becareful musicman sometimes they wont want to take camera & just be a kid. i made that mistake everytime we went out i would take camera for my daughter, it was couple of weeks before she told me she doesn't always want to go out with camera. Now i ask her sometimes she says no most of time she will want camera with her. She will ask where we are going & make decision on her own, if taking her somewhere she and its a surprise i tell her she would be better taking camera. She takes it.

I'm not the one asking her... and haven't asked her thus far. She's the one asking me, she's most certainly the driver here...

Have a 17 yr old too, so know the ropes... :) thanks for the advice though, I hear what you're saying.;)

:clap: Wonderful photos there - well done Heather, she could teach me a thing or two

ooo Didn't realise there was another thread :p As I said in the welcome thread I really like a lot of the shots in the gallery  Wish some of my shots were that good :(

Well, well John, what a budding young lady photographer we have here then. There are some lovely shots there and far better than mine when I first started out. I am going to have to watch my back here in 'Glorious Wales' with that competition going on!!! Cherish your time with her now, she will never forget these outings and the grounding you are giving her with photography. Well done Heather!:woot::clap::woot::clap:

Thaks birdy... Heather is up late this evening and has only just gone to bed, I showed her your post in there and she was really excited to read that. Thanks for encouraging her...

No worries, Deserves all the encourangement:D

theMusicMan, what are you going to put on http://www.reflectingheather.com/ ?

Just wait 'till she starts collecting primes ;) :D

Btw., try installing Raw Therapee for her on the notebook, she might like the speed bump :)
Hey Slappo how ya doing?

I have promised that if she continues to show interest during the 14 day trial of her Zenfolio Gallery, I shall purchase the years plan for her. I'm then going to do as I have done for my domain name and link it to this. The free trial doesn't allow you to add the CNAME record for a domain.

I am sure she will maintain interest, she's already asked about the next few 'outings' and we have some lined up. Nothing today though, as I am about to go and do another portrait session at a clients house, and Heather is away for the night at her Gramps/Nannas place. She wants to do the sea wall tomorrow so we may venture down there if she's back in time.

speaking as a student of psychology and photographer, your daughter is seeing things with a different perspective to everyone else. Don't worry, it just means she get more unique images than everyone else, in a new style. The pyshology bit, is she is at an age where basic things will become very naturaly very quickly, so don't let her get any bad habits.

Fine, I'm getting quite busy, but it's better than being bored, I suppose :)

You both seem to be doing fine yourselves now, too.

The wretched zenfolio again... arrrgh.
Oh well, here's a little coppermine gallery I've set up:

Just a demo, although I might add some shots horse shots there :)

Next project this weekend: an evening stroll with our tripods.

Canon Bob has been wonderfully encouraging for Heather, as well as unbelievably generous by sending her a tripod she can use. So, later this week we are going to take a trip to one of the many motorway bridges and try out some tail light shots. It'll be a first for me too... will add some of Heathers images here and of course to her gallery when done.

Great shots Heather. My 9 year old only asked me tonight to take her out on Saturday as we are having a day of just us without her little sister:lol: She has commandeered my Fuji s7000. I agree that a junior section would be great. She so wants to post pictures everytime that she takes anything.
Keep going Heather, I cannot wait to see photos from you.

Update: Thanks to the kindness of Canon Bob on here, Heather received her Tripod today and immediately asked if we could go out and about in the dark. We visited a quiet motorway footbridge, and a viewing spot not far from where we live looking over the village of Caerleon (which is where Heather took her first batch of photos). Here's a few sample taster images, and the link to the gallery for the remainder of her first batch of 'tripod at night' shots.

All images taken by Heather!

Finally here's the link to her 'First tripod night shots' gallery for those interested.

Neat shots Heather....you should check but I believe ghosts qualify for extra pocket money.

Well done heather great start... make sure you keep hold of the E400 and at some point snaffle the charger away fro your dad...

Keep up the good work...

Nigel

Well Done Heather!

I think they are wonderful photos and that it's lovely you have something that you can spend lots of time with you Dad!

It was my Dad that got me into photography too and I have his old cameras too!

Keep at it honey!

R:love:

Well done again Heather.
I hope you are enjoying your photography, you certainly have an eye for it. Looking forward to seeing some more images from you and keep your dad on his toes. Well done

Nice one Heather... :)

Just to let everyone know, Heather once again too all of these pics. I showed her 'A' mode, and she used the dial to amend the settings, especially for the ones with moving headlights.

She's really enjoying this - me too!! :)

Heather went to West Midlands Safari Park last week with her Mum and some friends. She wanted to take her camera to take some shots. So I put the medium zoom on the body for her and off she went. I wasn't there, so these are all Heathers. I posted a new thread here so won't put the images in this thread.

Well done Heather the Safari Park shots are exellent, well done :clap:

I just wish my early attempts had been half as good as yours, Heather
Actually, I'd be happy if my current set were as good as some of them!!!

(oh - and well done dad for encouraging her!)
