What are they for? Business profiles or casual personal portraits?
Prefer natural light and outdoor locations. Get your subject to relax - chat to them while shooting and keep moving round them. Depends a bit on the purpose/end use.
It was an actress friend for her Spotlight account. I did a fair bit of online research but was so nervous! Think lighting set up was ok, set up 2 speed lights as hair light and back light and used a small soft box as main light and sometimes a reflector. I tried out black background, white and some natural shots outside which I prefer doing too.
Looking at the pictures my main mistake was not using a tripod for the inside shots. We chatted away and I felt she was relaxed but I struggled with natural smiles and having the tripod would have helped me get these and probably better angles. Me and tripods don't get along but I can see I would of benefited using it in this instance. Well you shoot and learn aye!
I've another one soon so any more help/ advice is appreciated
