Heads up-YongNuo YN-560 III Flashgun reduced at Amazon

It's not the hinge that's the weak point, it's the clip grooves in the door, they disintegrate.

I think it's been sorted in the newer ones? My first 568EX II door failed, and I emailed them and they sent me a replacement door for the cost of postage, with new sturdier clips. The second one I bought already had the newer clips.

Certainly the two that I purchased recently look pretty robust.

Currently priced even lower at £35.98.

It will be the same item either way, really depends on when you need it. Not sure if deliveries fulfilled by Amazon are returned to Amazon if they have a fault???

Decision's been made for me....just checked my basket - "YongNuo YN-560 III Flashgun has increased from £35.98 to £45.98". Whereas the Amazon supplied one has been reduced by a penny!

You can get these from good UK eBay sellers for the best prices quoted here from Amazon

Good to know, thanks. I should have thought of that actually. I've found before that you can often find the same sellers on eBay as on Amazon but ofte cheaper or with less postage costs.

The Mark IV is available for £45.50 here. Presumably a better buy than the MkIII but then again it appears to be available from China for just £14.99?

A very good price, I think the main difference between the mk iv and iii version is the mkiv has a build in transmitter, so if you are using something like the 560tx then then both are basically the same.

I've ordered it - at 14.99 even if I do get hit by HMRC it was too good to miss.

I've had three Yongnuos the build quality is terrible but they are cheap. Two of mine have broken battery compartment doors, and the third (a 600EX) had a broken on/off switch after less than a month and that had to go back for a refund.

Yes I have heard many stories of issues with battery doors braking and being held on with elastic bands or some form of tape. But for the type of use mine get I have found them very good, and at the price point be interested if anyone can suggest alternative?

Agree with this, inlaid,is to get not with hmrc, I regularly buy items of this amount with no issues.

Remember that the 560 is a MANUAL FLASH and doesn't work with ETTL or the equivalent on Nikon, so you really don't want it as your primary flash! It's ideal if you're using radio triggers in a multiple flash setup though.

The 568 is the version that supports ETTL and that's the one you want as a primary flash. I have one works fine (other than broken battery door) with my 5D Mark III.

Had to buy one at this price, dont think customs charge anything under £26.

In all likelihood they won't correctly fill out the customs declaration properly so they should get through without any charges but does anyone else wonder why those flashes are so cheap? Are they dumped inventory with the newer model available or something?

All of my professional flash use is manual, I've literally never used TTL. It's not a downside to me. Don't make it seem like an inferior product because of that.

And it's gone!

Just got the same message from Ebay, I like the bit about checking the tracking or contact your seller, difficult to do since they removed the ad, so no details any more.looks like a claim through Paypal.

Well they do say if something looks too good to be true....

Then again, I had a despatch email from the seller yesterday and today I got emailed a tracking number for China Post. So we'll see how it goes. This is what I got from eBay today:

We're writing to let you know that we've removed an item you recently won:
252088457755 - Yongnuo YN560 III Flash Speedlight for Canon Nikon Pentax Olympus

Since you've already paid for the item, you don't need to do anything else. If your item hasn't arrived yet, it should arrive soon. If it doesn't, then you'll want to open a case in our Resolution Centre. You can learn how to do this, plus find timelines for opening cases, at:

We wish you all the best on eBay and hope your future experiences are pleasant and successful. If you have questions, please click "Help & Contact" at the top of most eBay pages.

eBay still has lots of other great deals. Just go to http://www.ebay.co.uk to shop. We hope to see you soon.

A friend has been in touch to say they have just seen how this may be operating on Rip Off Britain. They use an empty envelope which they hand in at a post office and explain it has been delivered to the wrong address. It is done to make sure that the customer cannot prove to e-bay that the operator is fraudulent. But in this case it looks like eBay already knows these guys are fraudulent so hopefully if my empty envelope arrives I can get straight onto the Resolution centre.

Edit: Watched the show on catch-up - not directly relevant to an overseas eBay deal like this.

The answer isn't quite as simple as it looks but
1. They're made down to a price, not up to a standard
2. The actual manufacture is farmed out to small factories that cut corners
3. Yongnuo's policy of pile it high and sell it cheap has backfired on them, they have now saturated the market and there are virtually no customers left
4. Factories that have geared up to make their products are now stuck with machinery, materials and staff that they don't want and so are competing with their own customer (Yongnuo) so that they can (possibly) survive by selling at cost price or less
5. No warranty once the negative feedback opportunity has passed
6. Sellers don't pay taxes and collude with their customers to evade VAT and duty

Where do you see that date David? The tracking info on mine doesn't seem to give a date and I was going to go ahead with the Resolution Centre route.

Done the same, just received refund from paypal, shame it didnt work out, would have been a great bargain.

Any updates on the arrival of the flashguns? Looking to add another to my collection

Mine didnt arrive, still showing at Heathrow DC, Post Office say they cant trace it till it arrives at my door, advised me to get refund from seller as it has been in the system for more than 15 days and is probably lost.
