Heads up!!! Moon shot added!

no moon here :(

looking forward to your post....:)

Its absolutely hammering down at the moment so no moon here :(
I'll just look at your picture of the Northern one for now,
until the proper Southern moon appears  :D

Literally! :D Look at the moon folks! Get snapping :D

I am already PP'ing mine!

Gary.

I'd love to Gary unfortunately its chucking it down here in not so sunny Cornwall with approx 200yds visibility and 30 mph + winds...... oh and the wifes switched the central heating on its that cold.

Complete cloud cover here :(

In true blue peter style, here's one I made earlier (febuary!) though.

I like that EdinburghGary (sorry i cant tell you how to make it better...another thread)

but it's not quite full is it - shadow on the right side brings detail out on the craters
takes me back to the days when i sat in my garden with a 8" reflector telescope freezing my nuts off....

the moon is a complete and utter ba%$£rd to shoot, I can never seem to get it very sharp :(

Nice shot though Gary ;)

This was the best I've managed in the few attempts, taken last november mind you..

We only have clouds here.......

PS......Gary,crap shot..........

VERY nice Gary...... looks just the same here mate :p

Neil

What exposure did you use Gary, i'm guessing 30sec+ ?

:( It's really clear here but I managed to leave my tripod at a mates earlier in the week!

Moon is reflecting sunlight, so I used the F11 and 100th of a second rule. hard to believe though, I know.

Gary.

Kinell, wasn't expecting that.

Good shot mind.

Just been out but it's more overcast that I thought. Oh well!

Wow... That's excellent

Just had a play if you don't mind :D

Not fair! I want to play. Own up. Who nicked the moon? Grrrrr, west coast weather strikes again.

I want to take pics of the moon but my 70-200 dose not really get what im after, ill give it a crack at some point

Here's one I made earlier.

I must admit I'm always a bit surprised when people say how hard it is. This was done with a Canon 100-400L at 400mm, with a 2x Extender which meant that (a) I had to focus manually, and (b) the IQ was degraded by the Extender. And it was hand-held. And it was taken during the day. I think it came out OK, considering.

I think its the pin sharp super contrast which a lot of moon shots lack (all of mines included). I have only seen one or two crispy, super detailed moon shots, and I dunno how to do them like tha.

Lovely shot BTW.

Gary.
