I have spent the last 2 weekends shooting cricket, its been nice and sunny but with a bit of wind. first day I took a baseball cap but the peak hits the camera body in portrait mode so I tried balancing it high but spent a bit of time chasing it round the field due to the wind. Result it went in the bag and I had to deal with a slightly toasted face when I got home.

2nd weekend lesson learnt, took another baseball cap and a hoodie, cap on so it went above the camera and the hood on so the hat didn't blow away, worked perfectly but when the wind died down I was roasting due to wearing the hoodie.

So what does everyone else wear to protect their head/ears/nose etc from the sun but it doesn't interfere with the camera especially in portrait mode?

I don't want to wear sunscreen as I don't like them and they will probably be greasy I know there are some none greasy ones but I usually forget them and don't really want to leave them in the camera bag.

This is perfect for me as its a large fit with a pull to fit smaller heads.. so more comfortable than yer usual one size thats too tight.. right color to reflect the heat.. I just bought another as I am always losing hats :( and will always need one with cricket every weekend.

the brim is short and flexible enough when using the camera.. not too flimsy that it blows about but easy moves when i want it to

By now you should be so well tanned that a day in the sun won't hurt you :D

That may work for you, but some of us northern types only need a light bulb turned on to get sunburnt, no matter how many days we've been out in the sun. Sometimes you can see the red glow of my bald patch from space!
