OK - I've decided that I might want to play with HDR. If it's been discussed before, please forgive me and point me to the right thread.

Otherwise, here's my question. Which (PC) software do people use and whadd'ya think of it?

Thanks

Brian

Most people use photomatix or CS3.

I'm with Diddy, dynamic photo is the bomb, so much more user friendly, the colour match feature in the latest version is pretty cool, The shot I did in this post made good use of it.
Wow - that's impressive - thanks Pete

Same as me but I sure as hell aint producing those sorts of results with it, thats cracking

Theres a tutorial here but Pete uses photomatrix

Sorry - I'm confused now. Pete - do you use Photomatix or Dynamic Photo?

Thanks

Ah my fault, sorry Pete carr ( PeteMC) is the one that did the tutorial Not Petebarnes

I use Dynamic Photo,

Pete Carr uses Photomatix (the tutorial is very good btw)

I think HDR programs are going to improve a lot so it's easier to get great results but we just have to wait, remember you can't polish a turd! :)

Another good tutorial is this bloke, from what I remember he uses Photomatix and then original raw files layered in CS3 to reduce the noise.

It's all about experimenting really (and practicing) :D

Must admit I love the 'HDR' (okay Petemc - Tone Mapping), but don't like the noise

Any hints on reducing it - or is it just a case of either using other noise reduction software or considering it just part of the effect? IN the latter case, we'll call it artistic grain

Shoot low ISO - if you are exposing from one raw dont take too harsh an overexposer into the mix, if doing from 3 raws/tiffs then you get a hell of a lot less noise, as long as you dont push the processing too far and try and lift shadows that arent liften in the shots (if you know what I mean) - also work from raws converted into tiffs from Photoshop or Lightroom as sticking a raw into photomatix and letting it do its own thing always seems to produce slightly noisier results.

There's a free trial version of photomatrix on this months Digital Photo, plus a guid on how to use it. I had a quick play with it and managed an ok result, given the lack of time and drinking at the same time:nuts:
The mag also talks your through HDR from a RAW image

Theres a free trial on the Photomatix website too, and theres a guide on my website that tells you how to use it :)
