I don't think post processing, including HDR processing, will rescue a badly taken image. All post processing technique, including HDR, will benefit from good camera technique.

I like all sorts of processing, including what just your digital camera will do all on its own. Its still digitally manipulated mind you.

I don't think HDR will rescue a crap image, or any post processing technique for that matter. Good "in camera" technique MAY be enhanced by post processing, including HDR. I like to work on both camera technique and post processing skills. The 2 go hand in hand in this digital world. I like to keep an open mind. Just because I enjoy post processing does not mean that I am not trying hard to improve with my camera. I aim to improve with both.

I try all different types of post processing. HDR is amongst many techniques that I like. Why? Well I think these 3 examples explain why. The dynamic range of the scene exceeded what I could capture from a single image without blowing highlights etc. These shots are from bracketed sets of 3 plus images processed with Photomatix and PS:







I don't like garish overcooked images resulting from any process method, this is not unique to HDR processing. I do like a more natural look.

Excellent shots but I think they could do with a little more "pop" as, like many properly processed HDR they look a little flat.
