HDR...Love'em or hate'em.........

Not to everybody's taste but there are some I find lifted above what would orninarily IMHO, be very mundane shots.

If it's not massively overdone I can appreciate it. Have seen some landscape shots on here this week that have suited it very well.

I on the other hand cannot do it. Shoot RAW, use photomatix, and they still look really really REALLY bad!

If they are not over done I think HDR can look good

1 and 3 aren't bad, 2 is awful. HDR or more specifically,tone mapping, is a tool that is dreadfully misused. In my opinion the tone mapped image should be the start point, not the end point for an image.

1. the sunlight area looks strange
2. Typical HDR overdone
3. Not too sure about either. I think a low contrast shot would have worked better.

Personally I'm not a fan of HDR, but the contrast masking technique works really well for a much better, realistic effect

3) turned to B&W and HDR'd because it was an uninteresting snap shot.
