Hello people

So here is my slight problem. I have taken a host of images to be combined for HDR, now I do have cs5 which has HDR, but I was wondering if there is a better, stand alone program that's intuitive and gives good looking results. I am not looking for anything that's too in depth right now, but maybe something that lets me expand into it might be cool. If someone could recommend anything I would be very happy.
Thank you.

Hello:

The long time standard is Photomatix and there is a trial available. I also use Oloneo Photoengine, which is great, but the alignment feature needs improvement. Both programs offer realistic as well as grungier features.

Thats great, thank you very much, it is much appreciated.

Oh really? I didn't know Nik had one, cool, I will be checking out Efex and photomatix. Thanks for the help, looking forward to getting stuck in :)

Cs5 is a little limited for HDR but it great tool to align shots. But also combine all your shots into one picture. This gives a massive dynamic range to the one shot, really usefull when adjusting blacks, highlights exposure. Combined with Lightroom 4 you can get some superb results without actual HDR effects. I think if you search Webb for mark koslowski he does great tutorial for cs5

Photomatix is a good place to start, just don't get carried away with the options. There is a link on this page, top right.

Thank you, I have got photomatix and some of its options are, well shall we say special. lol. I will also check out those tutorials, thank you, its been a great help.

Theres lots of presets you can DL I dont use them well I do my own, Ill se if I can remember were to DL them for you

It depends on the look your going for and how you shhot the pics, presets can be a starting point, but you'll probably still need to tweek a bit.
Play with the slider and see what they all do, then you'll know which ones to ajust.

"EasyHDR" is very good for non-HDR looking photos, I use it and it is not very expensive.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to everyone, I have been busy processing my hdr images, haha. Currently using photomatix, so far it is very good. Thank you for all the recommendations. It has been much appreciated. x
