Is there any noticeable difference between using HDMI or DVI-D cable on PC monitor ?

I'm pretty sure they use the same signal just with a different pin layout.

HDMI is more aimed at consumer AV interconnects than PC though. Displayport seems to be the route that newer PC screens are taking for interconnects.

They're exactly the same signals sent through pretty much the same bit of copper, the only difference being the shape of the plug at the end. Use whichever is most convenient for the stuff you're connecting.

If your PC monitor has built in speakers, HDMI will carry your video and audio at the same time if your video card has HDMI out. DVI only carries the video signals if you are using external speakers anyway.
