HDMI black level on monitor

I'm looking through different settings on my monitor, I found one option 'hdmi black level'. It has low and normal as the options to select. Which would be more recommeded for use when editing?

It might help if you said what make & model of monitor?

Plus I surmise that you have it connected via an HDMI cable ?
 
Tom, may be better to look up how to calibrate your monitor for editing? The black level setting is only one element of that. Regarding black level specifically, my guess would "low" e.g. if this is Samsung the low setting allows all black levels down to zero to be displayed.

It is connected via HDMI and it is a samsung c24f390 monitor.

Hmmmm :thinking:

It is a VA screen panel and the only mentioned colour gamut is Colour Gamut (NTSC 1976)72% so purely AFAIK you may struggle to calibrate it for editing, especially in regard to blacks???

At the very least an editing monitor should cover the sRGB gamut!

Fair enough, thankyou. I was only checking it as I found my edits looked darker on other devices. Having tried calibrating from a free online guide I couldn't see where I was going wrong.
