Hdew

They're good by all accounts but they deal in grey imports if that matters to you - at least you only need return a faulty item to Surrey, not Hong Kong!

Ah ok, I suspected grey imports. I only want a £215 lens for now, so nothing major. Think I'll probably order.

Hdew is legit but that URL looks a bit suss...

Just bought a lens from Hdew.

Excellent service, some other suppliers could learn a lot from these guys.

PRETTY CERTAIN THAT IS NOT A GENUINE HDEW DOMAIN

It is a sub-domain of rtrk.co.uk with the registrant living in the US - I would not buy or browse that link!

A friend of mine bought a camera from them which developed a fault.
He phoned them, described the problem, they agreed that the camera was indeed faulty.
The replacement was with him the next day and the first camera was collected.
That's customer service.
South Devon dealer are you reading this?????????

cheers, cw

Thanks, I'll order.

The domain doesn't look right but the other one posted above works aswell, so I'll use that.

Hi

As others have said, HDEW is good - you can phone and speak with them as well, to put any concerns at rest (and order via phone if required).

Enjoy your new purchase when it arrives :)

There are many copy-cat websites that look and feel like the real deal but only steal your money. HDEW proper is a good retailer; I used them once for a fairly substantial order - all worked out well.

I bought my Af-s 80-400mm lens from them and got excellent service and quick delivery. Yes they do deal in grey imports but having saved over £300 on the lens I am well pleased with the purchase.

If you are happy with having a grey import then I would recommend them

@realspeed - it was the link from the original post that was iffy. Doesn't look like the genuine HDEW link.

Bottom of that sheet says address Vulcan House, Restmore Way ,Wallington SY SM6 7AH

You are looking at the wrong domain, the original post lists an incorrect domain.

I was referring to the postal address in the photo and not only have I moved but also using a different computer at the moment. I have no idea why you should talk about domain names they have nothing to do with it

Hdew are a genuine company with an office at the above address in Hackbridge/Wallington. The correct URL is http://www.hdewcameras.co.uk/. They deal with grey imports and any problems are dealt with direct from their office. Have ordered and collected from them and have no complaint about the service received.

Another vote from me too. I bought my 6d and 24/105 from them last year without any issues.

Gaz

I have made numerous purchases from HDEW (Canon 6D, Olympus OMD EM1, various lenses). Each time I have had very good service. I usually phone them to order so that I can check stock and delivery times. I saved over £600 on the OMD EM1 with the 12-40 lens. That is a lot extra to pay just to get a Olympus UK warranty, and HDEW give their own 3 year warranty.

Hi, just new to the forum and just subscribed today for 2 reasons, (this is my first post and I know it may be suspicious to some, I smiled myself when other pointed out in the past)
1) thanks to your posts as it helped me in deciding if to purchase my new Nikon D5300 via HDEW or not... as many posted in the forum price looked too good vs high street and usual issue of grey imports
2) I wanted to confirm as far as my experience was it is a great company to deal with, I saved nearly 200£ (384£ delivered same set 578£), had a VAT receipt (although had to ask for it twice) and they responded promptly to my queries re. delivery (item arrived in 4 days and well communicated by courier)

Also as far the warranty goes, it is 3 years but I don't get the 1st year via Nikon UK 2 years via approved repairer as far as I understood it is all 3 years via HDEW and their repairers. Has anyone details of it being different?
