Hdew - Onestop digital - Digitalrev

In the past I have bought 2 lenses from Panamoz. Very happy with delivery. Now they don't have much in stock and prices have rocketed.

So, out of Hdew (£730 delivered) - Onestop digital (£674) - Digitalrev (£700), I'm looking at a Canon 7D.

The thing I want to know from first hand experience is.... your lovely new body arrives, and there's a problem. Which out of these 3 have the best after sales service and will sort out the problem?

I've also been very happy with Panamoz but for my 6D + 24-70 f/4 I went with HDEW. Although I wasn't 100% happy with the time it took to fulfil the order, the fact that they have a local office meant I could hassle them on the phone every day (the delay was a supplier issue so not really their fault).

I'm thinking of going with Procamerashop for my next order though (they are doing the 7D for £700 also).

I've bought from Hdew, Onestop and DR in the past. I've not needed after sales support from Onestop. With Hdew the only after sales service I've had is a partial refund when the product I bought dropped in price between ordering and delivery. No fuss at all with that one and a very pleasurable experience. With DR the only after sales support I've required was when they shipped entirely the wrong product. Getting it sorted out took over a month and was a serious PITA. This was for something as trivial as a filter.

For various reasons my money would be going to Hdew for the 7D, without hesitation. You'll get a three year warranty, with the first year honoured by Canon UK. You'll also have full UK/European consumer protection and the convenience of dealing locally in the event of any problems. Just be sure to ask for a VAT receipt with the purchase.

Sean, before deciding on who to buy from, type buyers name - `negative reviews` into google rather than just `reviews`.
Do your homework! It's worth spending a few hours on research, before spending your hard-earned.

The simple fact that a seller threatening legal action to get negative reviews removed from many sites, is enough for me to look elsewhere.

Good plan. I've spent days reading about the camera and the companies. I've typed into Google reviews of the sellers but not negative reviews. Just off to do it now.

I'd certainly recommend HDEW and yes you get a 3 year warranty with them. It used to 12 months with Canon and then the extra 2 years with them, but as Canon seem to be tightening up on their cashback scheme - checking serial numbers and not paying out to non Europe imports, it could be worth double checking.

£80 on the 7D. If I bought off Amazon it would end up £920 after I got the 80 back.

It used to 12 months with Canon and then the extra 2 years with them, but as Canon seem to be tightening up on their cashback scheme - checking serial numbers and not paying out to non Europe imports, it could be worth double checking.

That's fair enough. My experience of taking stuff into Canon at Elstree is that they are only concerned with "proof of purchase" showing a UK VAT invoice to support any warranty claims. I imagine that's the approach Kerso depends on for warranty support of his US sourced stock. So far I have yet to test grey imports for warranty work, but I would not personally be concerned until I see evidence that there would be a problem. The odds are that none will be required in any case - and there is still the third party warranty that Hdew provide, along with their legal obligations under the SOGA. One way or another the gear is covered.

HDEW, were helpful and friendly through out my recent purchase of a 650D, UK invoice, decent 3 yrs warrantee, I asked for a free delivery which they gave, no need for any after service yet, touch wood.

IF, Canon deem it to be a Europe body - there have been some there threads on here of a few lenses purchased from Amazon (themselves), which have turned out to be grey imports...

I just think it's worth checking now, as for me one of the benefits of HDEW or Kerso, was the 12 months Canon warranty as well as the saving made.
